The One with the New Design

Hello hello, welcome to the new and improved site! I am so thrilled with the new layout. I think it has a much cleaner and more organized feel, just what I need heading into 2022. I’m just really excited to get back into blogging this year and this new design and layout has me feeling energized and ready to tackle my drafts folder, ha!

A quick walkthrough —

Starting with the top navigation menu. I decided to give my logo an update with a new font, sticking to tradition it is still in script. There is now only one category for Style, whereas posts used to be broken down by season. I felt like too often we chat about bringing pieces through the seasons so why divide them? Living has been broken up into Home Decor, Motherhood, Notes, and Recipes. There are still only two Travel posts but I did add the category New York because why not #seeyourcity. Plus, I owe you a few updates to my NYC posts anyway. Rest assured they’re in the draft pile. On to the shops, there are several now. You can shop my Instagram, peruse the general shop page, and now also see what I’m saving for little ones and our home. You may also notice there is a Follow page where you can click through and find me elsewhere on the internet! And if you interested in working together, there is a new and improved Work with Me page.

If you are coming to me from Instagram you will have landed on the “quick links” page as I’m calling it. I think it is a bit of a neater entry to the blog via mobile. That way you can head directly to whatever you came for, which tends to be an LTK link. I get ittttt.

There are a few more categories I have in mind to add here and plan to do so once I have a few posts together to fit them. Stay tuned!

One the home page there is a new section called “Lately” at the top in place of a traditional header image which will feature a few of my recents shares from LTK, IG, Pinterest, etc. The thought here is to have these images evolve with the blog, season, me and give you a picture of where we are at at that moment.

Below that are a few items that are currently “On my list”, a familiar feature to.. everyone who has read any blog in the last five years, ha! As usual, this is a mix of items that I am currently loving and/or already own — like this Varley sweatshirt that I have and love so much! On a side note, it is one of the most worn things in my closet. I didn’t think I would wear it half as much but it is in constant rotation.

Below that we get into all of the blog posts/articles. And the pages actually work when you click on them now so no more guessing where you will land when you click next page. I do not know how I broke that, honestly, and it was the most annoying thing to not work properly.

Then we have the standard live feed of my Instagram, About, Policies, and Contact pages. And the final social links in the bottom corner.

Oof, you have no idea how excited this all makes me. As I’ve mentioned a handful of times, I have worked on many a website design/build in my professional life and truly enjoy this kind of thing so much. I love design, which is how I have ended up here. Way back in the day, when I started my first job out of college I created my blog as a creative outlet at the recommendation of a friend. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted my blog to be — There were baking recipes, personal stories, weekend photo dumps, outfits that I laugh looking back at, cocktails, trips… I am so happy to have all of these stories and thoughts to look back on, especially the ones of Mischa, my pup before Finn. She was the best and was such a huge part of my early blog. — And now we are here all these years later and I have narrowed it down to little bits of style, home decor, and every day life. I feel like we are at the beginning on a new chapter for this blog, and cannot wait to fill the pages.
