Sharing Some of My Postpartum Essentials

With week two in the books and week three almost over I wanted to hop on here and chat about some of the items that have been essentials for me during the postpartum period so far. I have done a lot of Amazon orders these last two weeks. A lot. I feel like every time I place an order I run out of something or realize I’ve forgotten something else needed.

This post may be a bit TMI and I fully understand that everyone is different and has their own preferences. The first weeks felt like a full on daze to me when I had Eleanor. This time around I feel more on top of what I actually need and have stronger preferences. I hope this list might be helpful to you if you are preparing to welcome a little one.

Breastfeeding pillow — I’ve mentioned this before but I really struggled to figure out breastfeeding with Eleanor. Our lactation consultant recommended this pillow to us, we ordered immediately and never looked back. It made getting baby in the right position so much easier and helped to free up my hands. We have been using it again with Isabel and while I truly believe that just knowing what to do has absolutely changed everything, this pillow has made things easier too. All that muscle memory just came flooding right back, thankfully.

Frida mom briefs — I love these. They feel a lot more secure than the mesh hospital briefs, which is nice for when you are home and moving around a bit more.

Frida mom peri bottle — The fact that you can turn this upside down to clean is a game changer. I have three of these now, which comes in handy when your toddler accidentally knocks one into the toilet. True stoy, haha.

Witch hazel pads — Soothing and cooling.

Pads — This is definitely a personal preference. I have liked these this time around.

Cleanser — This is the one they gave me to use in the hospital. When I went to reorder these I saw there are a lot of brands on the market to choose from, I decided to stick with this one since I have already been using it and had previously ordered when Eleanor was born.

Lactation bars — I don’t know for sure how much these are helping boost my milk supply, but they are certainly delicious and I am not complaining about having one as a snack each day. I definitely have a better supply this time around, but we also had a better start.

Nursing/pumping bra — I actually wore these a lot while I was pregnant this time too. This one is really great for pumping, it does a good job of holding everything in place so you can move around.

Nipple balm — This stuff has been a lifesaver. The early days of breastfeeding can be rough on your nipples. I used this balm with Eleanor as well and it has helped so much at repairing and preventing the dryness and cracking that happens those early days. Ouch.

Coconut water — And finally, where would I be without coconut water this week? I have been glued to the couch as we cluster feed and it has helped to provide a much needed boost in hydration, which especially important if you are breastfeeding.

There you have it, everything that has been helping me through these last two weeks. I am an open book about this stuff so if you have any questions please feel free to reach out, I am happy to help, or will try my best to!

I also created an Amazon Storefront (finally!) and added all of these items there as well. Link here!
