We just returned from a few lovely days away on Fire Island and while I am so sad to no longer be at the beach, I am quite happy to be home and settling back into our routine before heading up to the lake. I should have planned better and gotten this post up ahead of time but better late than never, I say.

When packing for the beach I always like to keep layers in mind. As I’ve gotten older my tolerance for sitting out in the sun all day has definitely diminished so lightweight sleeved things are a must for me and sun shades, hats, sunglasses—you name it! Lately I have been loving shirt dresses for the beach. They are so easy to throw on and go, are often lightweight, and can make that transition to post beach activities easily so you can feel put together should you pop in to a shop or the beach bar for a drink/snack.

01. Love this shirt dress, especially the soft sage color. I have a very similar one from Tuckernuck that I love and wear on repeat all summer — linked here! — but this one is at a much friendlier price point. 02. Sunglasses are always a must for the beach. More recently I have been drawn to pairs that have a bit more flair. I really like the thick frames and subtle cat-eye on this pair, they’re classic but a bit more interesting. 03. The perfect carryall beach bag. 04. A classic pair of sandals to take you to the beach and beyond. I have two pairs of Tkees now and must say I love them and they have held up pretty well so far! 05. I’m not really a huge beach jewelry wearer but I do have a few pieces that I virtually never take of — my favorite Gigi Clozeau bracelet being one of them! I love the necklace version as well, though I feel they have a more summery vibe than everyday like the bracelet. Anyway, love these and am considering adding one to my collection as a sweet everyday piece!
