DIRECTORY
The other day I opened a card with a future date neatly printed in the bottom corner that read August and my mind immediately made sense of it by assuming it was still August and the card was dated as the present day. Time has been a blur lately. Life has been busy in little bursts of work and errands and a mild cold for which all credit is due to our toddler. A quick snapshot of where I’m at right now.
Looking ahead our October calendar already feels full and I am tired. There are so many good things on the horizon — pumpkin picking, family time, halloween, birthdays, and an exciting surprise later this month. I feel pulled in a million directions as my to do list expands. Am I confident I’ll get it all sorted by November? Nope. But nothing is pressing and at the present I am focused on enjoying every moment of this season.
This week I am hoping to iron out what Eleanor will be for her second halloween. I saw the cutest Boo costume recently, but JD and I are not keen on dressing up and I cannot find a Sully costume for Finn anywhere. He doesn’t seem like the Mike Wazowski type. I’m thinking we’ll maybe do something more simple like a piggy. Next year she will select her own costume, I’m sure. Girlfriend has strong opinions. I have started thinking about our plans for Thanksgiving this year as well.
This time of year makes me feel nostalgic. Last year she had just started eating solids and had pumpkin for Thanksgiving dinner, which she hated. It makes me emotional to think of how different things were a year ago, and how wonderful they are still with her now. Little ones grow so quickly, they are excellent at putting time and priorities in perspective, even if it makes me all weepy. If I could just freeze time for a little bit…
Speaking of priorities, lately I have been focusing on tuning out the noise/outside influences and really dialing in to myself, sense of style, and home. As I’ve been looking for inspiration for the new season it has been helpful as I’ve found myself so drawn to many trendy things that I know will not serve me in the long run. There is nothing wrong with following a trend, they are fun! But investing in a trend? Not for me. But I may need a pair of croc embossed boots. And a fuzzy brown sweater. Much more to come on fall style very soon, ha!
Happy October friends!
xx
